Modern Sofas for Your Hotel: The Versatile “Pebbles Seating”
Chalk up another one for my collection of “seats that look like something other than seats”. We’ve seen chairs that look like spiders, sofas that look like lips, and even tables that look like something you’d use to crush up herbs for a medicinal poultice. Now we’ve got a love seat that looks like breakfast cereal. Fruity Pebbles, to be precise. And the great part is that they even share half of a name: Pebbles.
The Marten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune Pebbles Seating (say that three times fast) is really unique. It defies classification. Is it a chair? A love seat? A sofa? It is described as being “a system of elements”, so it’s probably too sophisticated for me to categorize anyway. We’ll just call it Pebbles. Not only is it shaped like, well, pebbles, it’s also available in several bright colors to perk up your decor. Plop this baby down in the pub next to your commercial bar tables, and you’re sure to start up some interesting conversations.
The Pebbles Seating looks very versatile, too. The back rest is on a swivel system, and several styles are available. The swivel system and legs come in chromed metal. Its steel and wooden structure makes it resilient enough for commercial use, even though it’s pretty enough to be used in a designer home. Comfort is at least as important as looks when it comes to modern furniture; the Pebbles Seating is thickly padded with multi-density polyurethane foam covered in yellow, burgundy, light blue, red and black bi-elastic fixed fabric – a color for any scheme.
