Chairs for Children: The Verner Panton Junior Chair
Speaking as a mother of two young children, I am glad to see that so many hotels and restaurants are catering to children’s special needs these days. Even traditionally grown-up establishments are starting to offer coloring books, toys, and other diversions for their smallest diners. It’s a blessing to parents when their kids can be included, but provided with positive activities to keep them occupied. (Because when kids get bored, they tend to come up with their own distractions, which aren’t always positive in nature.)
Verner Panton is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers. He gave us a chair that literally looks like a yellow liquid mass sliding down a wall and pooling on the ground. And he has also given us the subject of this post: the Verner Panton Junior Chair.
Available in a rainbow of colors that kids will love, the Verner Panton Junior Chair was inspired by children’s innate creativity. Panton noticed that children did not use the chairs just for sitting in; they also used them for climbing and playing. The chairs provided endless entertainment, and children came up with more uses for them than the average adult could even imagine.
This chair is ideal for children in pre-school and primary grades. The Panton Junior will also cause a stir with a color palette that has been especially developed with children in mind. In addition to the four classic colors of orange, red, white and black, the chair is also available in three new colors: pink, light blue and yellow-green.
Go take a look at the Bonluxat web page that features this chair, if only to get a chuckle from the picture at the top. One kid looks particularly triumphant, as if the Panton Junior Chair might just help him rule the world. Such aspirations aside, the chairs would at least provide a great seat and plaything for young kids at home or in kid-friendly businesses.
